09:30 – Depart by boat
from Teluk Bahang fishing village to Pantai
Kerachut
10:00 – Arrive at the beautiful white sandy beach of Pantai
Kerachut, you will first notice the unique meromictic lake
(seasonal) where fresh water from the mountain streams meets with
sea water. The sandy stretch is also the nesting place of the Green
Turtles (Chelonia mydas) & Olive-Ridley Turtles (Lepidochelys
olivacea). You can laze around the beach, fishing at the jetty or
at both rocky ends of the beach, visit the turtle sanctuary, gaze at
the majestic flight of white bellied sea eagles around coastal
forests. There are toilet/bathroom & camping facilities at the
beach
11:00 – You shall head to the forested area along the peat swamp
jungle trail and take a cool dip in the natural spas at one of the
freshwater streams and also have your picnic lunch there.
12:30 - The trail from Pantai Kerachut which ends at Pasir Pandak is
about 2.5 hours of leisure walking on undulating terrain. Along the
trail you will be able to enjoy clean cool streams, an array of
flora and fauna, dominated by dipterocarps to commercial and
medicinal species to ferns, palms, pitcher plants, meromictic
flora, climbers, fungi and many resident & migratory birds, monkeys,
squirrels, occasionally you will be able to spot the rare spiny hill
tortoises, river terrapins, etc.
15:00 – Arrive at Penang National Park entrance and transfer back
to hotel
